Better Rich Text Commercial Licence, version 1.0. Copyright © 2026 Dwayne Charrington. All rights reserved.
These terms apply to the Better Rich Text packages, source and documentation (the "Software") supplied with a paid licence. "You" means the person or organisation that bought the licence.
What you can do
Use the Software in any number of websites, applications and products, including software as a service and products you sell or give to your customers.
Let every developer, employee and contractor working for you use it. There's no limit on developers, domains, projects or end users.
Modify the Software and include it, modified or not, in your products.
Keep using every version you received, forever.
Updates
Your licence includes every release within the major version you bought, for example every 1.x release if you bought version 1. A later major version may be sold separately; buying it is optional.
What you can't do
Sell, sublicense or distribute the Software on its own, or as part of an editor, component library, SDK or developer tool whose main purpose is to give other developers a rich text editor.
Publish the Software's packages or source code in a public repository or a public package registry. Private repositories and private registries are fine, and the compiled code shipped inside your products is fine.
Share your licence key or downloads with anyone outside your organisation.
Remove or alter the copyright notices in the Software.
Your customers may use the Software as part of your product, under your product's terms, but they don't receive a licence to build with it themselves.
Ownership
The Software is licensed, not sold. Dwayne Charrington keeps all rights not granted here.
Ending the licence
If you breach these terms and don't fix the breach within 30 days of being told about it, the licence ends and you must stop distributing new copies of the Software. Products you already shipped to your customers may stay in use.
Warranty and liability
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Dwayne Charrington is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, and total liability under this licence is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here excludes rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
