Better Rich Text In development

Better Rich Text

Rich text editing with a complete feature set and control over your infrastructure.

The editor is being built now. There is nothing to download or buy yet, and no release date has been set.

Editor

A WYSIWYG editor written in TypeScript and built on its own document engine. Documents are structured data, not loose HTML, so what you save is what you load back.

Nodes, marks, commands and plugin options take their types from the definitions you register. If a plugin adds a command, your editor instance knows its name and its arguments. Data that crosses a boundary, such as a paste, an import or a server response, is checked again at runtime.

Frameworks

One engine, with an adapter for each of these:

  • React
  • Vue
  • Angular
  • Svelte
  • Aurelia 2
  • Solid
  • Web Components

The engine itself has no framework dependency, so you can also drive it directly.

Self-hosting

Basic editing runs entirely in the browser. Collaboration, storage, document conversion and assisted writing are separate services that you deploy on your own servers, next to the rest of your application.

Your documents, comments and revision history stay in formats you can export without an active subscription.

Licensing

Two things are left out on purpose:

  • Licence-key server The editor does not call home to check whether it is allowed to run.
  • Editor-load metering Page views and editor loads are not a billing unit.

Better Rich Text will be a paid product. Pricing has not been announced.
